KUKA has launched the KMF 1500P-CB, the first model in a new autonomous forklift family aimed at manufacturing and warehouse pallet handling. The counterbalanced AMR/AGV-style vehicle is specified to move open and closed pallets and containers up to 1,500 kilograms and to lift to about three meters. KUKA positions it for longer-distance internal transport rather than only short station-to-station hops, and for sites that want to automate existing pallet and container flows without rebuilding every transfer point.

Autonomous forklifts remain one of the harder warehouse categories because loads are heavy, pallets are often imperfectly placed, and mixed human-vehicle traffic raises safety requirements. A factory-branded forklift AMR therefore competes with specialist AGV vendors and with vision-guided lift trucks from material-handling OEMs. The launch, dated around 10 September 2026 and still circulating in English industry wires, matters for automatic loading/unloading and automated handling of unit loads: if detection, pickup, and placement are reliable, these vehicles close the gap between high-bay AS/RS outfeed and dock or production line.

Typical integration questions follow immediately—WMS or MES mission assignment, traffic management with manned trucks, battery and charging strategy, and whether the same fleet manager can also run tuggers or smaller AMRs.
