A Maple Grove, Minnesota fulfillment center operated by Archway, a major North American supply-chain company specializing in logistics, signage and gift-card services, has deployed a fleet of 45 autonomous mobile robots powered by physical AI to automate order-fulfillment tasks. The robots, supplied by Quicktron, were formally unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Archway CEO Manish Kapoor, Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson, representatives from long-term partner Blackhawk Network, and Quicktron engineers. During a live demonstration the robots navigated the warehouse floor smoothly, continuously broadcasting safety announcements such as “Robot in motion, rotation in progress.
Please be cautious.” The fleet is already delivering measurable productivity gains. It can sort and pack up to 7,200 gift-card packages per hour, supporting continuous replenishment of grocery and retail shelves across the continent. Company leadership reports an overall productivity increase of 300 percent following integration of the robots.
Archway emphasizes that the deployment is designed for human–robot collaboration rather than workforce replacement. CEO Manish Kapoor stated that businesses and consumers demand faster, cheaper and more accurate orders; the robots provide the tools that enable human workers to meet those expectations without displacing people. By assuming high-injury, highly repetitive motions, the robots free employees for more strategic roles while reducing workplace strain and injury risk.
The installation illustrates several broader industry patterns visible in 2026: rapid deployment of autonomous mobile robots in existing facilities, the use of physical AI and onboard sensing for safe navigation in mixed human–robot environments, and the focus on high-volume, relatively standardized order streams (gift-card fulfillment) as an early high-ROI application. Quicktron’s technology, previously known for goods-to-person and transport AMRs in larger Asian and global deployments, is here applied at a mid-sized North American site, demonstrating increasing accessibility of AMR fleets beyond mega-fulfillment centers. Safety features—continuous verbal warnings, sensor-based obstacle avoidance and controlled rotation—reflect maturing standards for collaborative mobile robotics.
The 300 percent productivity lift and multi-thousand-package-per-hour throughput provide concrete performance benchmarks for similar operations considering comparable AMR investments. The Maple Grove project also highlights the continuing importance of partnership ecosystems: Archway’s long-standing relationship with Blackhawk Network (a major gift-card issuer) supplied the volume and process knowledge needed to justify the capital outlay, while Quicktron supplied the robotic platform. Local government participation at the ribbon-cutting signals municipal interest in retaining and expanding logistics employment through technology-enabled productivity rather than pure labor displacement.
